What is Fear Artists

Walid

“My artistic path has started with the conviction that the world needs to see and hear me. I am a North African Queer artist who believes they can change the lack of representation in media. For the past 3 years or so, I have been co-directing and modeling for a number of photoshoots that aim to display my identity in its purest and most controversial forms. I have also been enjoying the moderate safety of a few spaces around Tunisia to showcase my daring fashion sense. Recently, I have been cast in more professional projects in which I make sure my Queer identity is never neglected. Alongside my art, I am heavily engaged with the NGO Mawjoudin (We Exist) which keeps me aware of the sociopolitical context surrounding the LGBTIQ+ community in Tunisia. I believe these two aspects of my life blend together to create who I am: an artivist.”
