Selanik: Kuiring the most Erotic City

Ayşenur Babuna in collaboration with tour guide Maria Bountouka propose a performative touristic voyeuristic experience for Thessaloniki focusing on the genealogy of the erotic identity of the city. Through storytelling we will observe how the city’s love drive transmuted from a sexy and queer multi-ethnic and inter-religious erotic spree during the Ottoman rule into a heteronormative ethnically-cleansed and mono-identitarian pure love the Greco-Chistian nation state. May the inherent Oriental erotic plurality of the historic city empower us to embrace its beneficial contaminating potential for Thessaloniki again.
