Born in 1991, Byun studied Film TV & Multimedia and Eastern Philosophy at Sungkyunkwan University. With his short films, Horn (2014) and The Chicken of Wuzuh (2015), he was invited to the Busan International Film Festival. The Chicken of Wuzuh (2015) received the Golden Reel Award from the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival.
