“I am a self-taught artist that has been driven into art through my personal aesthetics but also by those related to my sexuality. With a PhD in Geography, my artworks take the direction of cultural geography, exploring queer spaces both real and imagined. Although homosexuality has been legalised in India, the greater challenge lies in the re-education of society, as cultural perceptions still criminalise gay individuals. Simultaneously, I also address the multiple realities which homosexual subjects have to face due to the heterosexual and patriarchal dominant culture. Through the exploration of queer spaces, my aim is to give more visibility to gay individuals and defy the negative perceptions society has toward homosexuality.”
